Get a Great Massage

Turbo-charge your massage!

Whether this is your very first massage or you are a seasoned “veteran,” these tips will help you get the most benefit from your session.

Before your session

 - Arrive on time for your massage.  If you’re frenzied and rushed, it may take you longer to relax.

 - Please turn off your cell phone, pager and PDA.

 - Drink some water beforehand but don’t eat a big meal for at least a couple of hours.

 - Use the restroom just before your massage.

 - Avoid using nicotine, alcohol, recreational drugs or caffeine containing substances for at least several hours before and after your session.

 - A hot shower, sauna, whirlpool or hot tub beforehand (and afterwards) helps you relax even more.

During your massage

 - Relax your body and your mind; give in to the experience and let yourself go.

 - Deep, slow breathing using your abdomen can be a wonderful enhancement.

 - Focus on your breathing and the sensation of the therapist’s hands during the massage.

 - Let the therapist know about any specific areas that need extra attention or, on the other hand, that you prefer not be included in your session.

 - You don’t need to “help” the therapist by lifting your arms, legs or head unless asked.

 - If you’re uncomfortable with anything during your session – the pressure, the pace, the music, the room temperature – ask for an adjustment.  If you have any questions during the session, please ask.

After your Massage

 - Take some time to let the experience sink in.

 - Drink plenty of water and have a light snack.

 - Try not to do strenuous work or exercise for a few hours afterwards.

And most importantly, "Keep in touch!"
