Neuromyofascial Remodeling (Back to Top)

Our body holds powerful physical, emotional, psychological, energetic, and cultural memories locked into complex neurological and fascial patterns.   Based on cutting edge medical research, Neuromyofascial Remodeling (NMFR) focuses on altering unwanted, stressful  brain-body relationships that inhibit natural balance, posture and movement.

NMFR clients report profound increases in body awareness, "aliveness," joint mobility, and energy levels.  Many clients also experience immediate pain reduction and stress relief.

Neuromyofascial  Remodeling sessions include the following activities and last approximately 1 1/2 hours.

•    Health intake
•    Body reading/ Postural assessment
•    Neuromyofascial treatment
•    Neurological pattern imprinting
•    Fascial repatterning exercises
•    Post-treatment assessment and treatment evaluation

Deep Tissue Massage (Back to Top)

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.  Some clients also find an Epsom salts bath afterwards especially soothing.

I can incorporate hydrotherapy (heat or ice packs) and Range of Motion stretching into a deep tissue session to achieve more effective results, if desired.

Because of the intense nature of this work, I recommend sessions of one hour or less.

Trigger Point Therapy (Back to Top)

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body.  Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body.  These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.  During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points.  Although the process can be painful at times, the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Most of my clients do not devote an entire session to Trigger Point Therapy, but choose to incorporate it in to other work, as necessary.

Because this work is very intense, It cannot be safely done on clients with cardiovascular conditions or on those taking aspirin, Plavix, or other blood thinners such as warfarin (Coumadin) or heperin.  Make sure that I'm aware of all your medications so that we ensure your safety.

Swedish Massage (Back to Top)

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils, lotions or cremes with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. I have developed a wonderful combination of Swedish and Esalen style massage approaches for the stressed-out, nervous, or anxious client.

Swedish massages are available at the SAGE clinic, or on-site at your home, workplace, or lodging.  Swedish massages can be performed while lying on a massage table, seated in a massage chair or wheelchair or for those clients who are confined to their beds.

I recommend a one and a half hour or longer session for the ultimate in relaxation and stress relief.

Massage for Seniors (Back to Top)

Massage for Seniors, focuses on mature adults or people managing one or more chronic illness, addresses the psychological and physiological aspects of aging and its associated diseases. I use a variety of techniques adopted from the DAYBREAK Geriatric Massage Institute suited to the needs of the more frail individual including foot pumping, fluffing, butterfly tapotement, light petrissage, and jostling.

Massage for Seniors can be given while using a massage table, a chair or wheelchair or to those who are bedridden.  Clients are positioned face-down, face-up, side-lying or sitting depending on their specific health history and preference and do not need to change positions or turn over during the session.

A Massage for Seniors session generally incorporates no more than 30 minutes of "hands-on" therapy to avoid overtaxing older or weakened bodies.
